Oldest City Abby Road

This is a short little surfy film shot and edited by one of St. Augustine's up and coming documentarians, Drew Miller. Chris Tincher came up with the concept and asked Dustin, Tim, and myself to test out a few boards by local shaper Ken White.

What fun waves we had!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Updates, trailer and tees

video

For those too impoverished of time and/or interest to watch every episode, here is a 30 second trailer outlining the 31/31 St. Augustine experience from October 2009.

I've been neglecting my blog. But for good reason! I've been spending a lot of time dreaming and imagining the next adventure after the creative explosion of October.

Also, Rachel and I have been working on some Mersea Tees. Here's the gist:

31 Days / 31 Ways: Flashback to Day 12's Stop Action

Here's a flashback to Day 12, during which Rachel, Daniel Florez and I surfed pretty much all day long on a variety of wave sliding devices, from logs to surf mats to alaias.

Daniel took about 10,000 photographs on Day 12 and strung them all together to create the illusion of a motion picture, though all of the images you see are still frames.

Thanks so much, Daniel!

31 Days / 31 Ways: "Going on 31 Years"

Day 30 was spent navigating small, choppy surf with veteran surfer Valerie Rose.

Halloween Finale Tomorrow!

To anyone in the St. Augustine area, we're trying to get as many surfers together to meet tomorrow at 11:00am just north of the St. Augustine Pier to go for a spooky costume surf. Come and join us if you can, and don't forget a costume!

31 Days / 31 Ways: "Creative Opportunities"

Day 29 gave us another opportunity to spontaneously come up with a "way" for the day, after our featured surfer/ board couldn't make it. So, Rachel and I took the opportunity to talk a little bit about our experiences with the project thus far and to glide on my favorite log, Daphne. We ran into Bryan Crowder out in the line-up and also met Eli Meyer, a surf-stoked tennis instructor from Gainesville while enjoying the little glassy peelers. 31 days/ 31 ways is a journey in hometown adventure.

31 Days / 31 Ways: "Log Heaven"

Day 28 was spent in Log Heaven with a slew of great friends and legends! We managed to talk Tory Strange, owner of The Surf Station, into letting us take several vintage boards down from their 20 year sentence as wall decor. As if that weren't exciting enough, the wind finally switched offshore, giving us some beautiful, glassy little peelers on which to glide.

31 Days / 31 Ways: "Foote Loose"

Day 27 was spent exploring the quiver of creative surfing stylist Matt Foote.

We rode Matt's 5'10 CI Biscuit, 7'0 Takayama Egg, and 9'8 Nuuhiwa.
